Campaign manager from Russia’s anti-war party says she was assaulted by Ukraine war veterans

A Russian activist and former campaign manager with the country’s anti-war Yabloko party said she and her husband were assaulted by men claiming to be veterans of the war in Ukraine, she told independent outlet RusNews.

Varvara Kosheleva, who ran the campaign of State Duma candidate Anna Shatunovskaya-Burno, was diagnosed with a concussion and multiple bruises in hospital, the outlet reported. She also complained of a headache, dizziness, and nausea.

Kosheleva said the men, who were intoxicated, placed a beer can on the couple’s car as they pulled up to the building around midnight. They began taunting them, then attacked.

“They immediately started saying we were traitors to the motherland, that they fight for people like us and that we’re ungrateful scum,” she said.
